FAQ

Here are a few questions that people often ask Alan - If you have any other questions, please feel free to drop me an email

Q - "Why should we hire you rather than someone else"

A - Difficult to answer really. If you haven't seen me perform before there is little I can do to convince you. If you have seen me you wouldn't be asking the question. I'm very good though...

Q - "Do you perform at children's birthday parties?"

A - Alas no. Although I used to entertain the younger sector of our society I had one too many Jelly and Ice-creams and hung up my magic wand that falls to bits years ago. Please see Children's Parties for some excellent magicians though.

Q - "My son is 12 and extremely bright. Him and his friends are too old for a 'Kiddie Magician' and they would love it. Can you come along?"

A - Again no. When kids are amongst their peers they simply see it as a challenge to see how the tricks are done - quite different to when they are sat with a table of adults as they take the grown ups lead with how to react.

Q - "But what if there are a few children at our party/wedding?"

A - If there are just a couple of kids, I do have a few tricks they will enjoy. Some are simply too clever for them, but others the plot is so simple, well, even a child could follow them.

Q - "When is the best time to add a touch of magic to our wedding?"

A - Really depends on you and what else you have going on at a certain time. The best time is at the Wedding Breakfast (meal) when everyone is sat down - this ensures that no one misses out on the magic as I can keep a track on who I've already performed for. Please see Wedding Magician page for a full run down.

Q - "How much does it cost?"

A - The big question! The answer is - it depends! Price is based on lots of different factors (Date, Length of Performance, Location etc) - email Alan from Contact page for a quote.

Q - "I've asked around and I have had cheaper quotes. How come you are a little bit more expensive?"

A - It's really like anything else. You get what you pay for. If you want a cheap magician with a playing card waistcoat and a flashing bow tie then I am not the magician for you anyway. Also I have a friend that will come along for £17.50 and free drinks if you want - but by his own admission - he is completely rubbish! Another point is that if you hire someone cheaply - this will often indicate their professionalism towards the job ie they might not make every effort to make sure they get there and make it a success if they aren't been paid well for it (see next question...)

Q - "What if you are ill or something happens and you can't make it"?

A - This is a worry for many people. I often get calls from people ringing at the last moment and saying "our magician has just let us down..." etc. I've been performing professionally now since 1992 - and in that time have only ever not been able to attend a handful of bookings. In the event of me not been able to make it, I will ensure that someone of an EQUAL STANDARD (or sometimes better!) will be at your event for THE SAME FEE.

Q - "Can you make my wife disappear?"

A - No, but I've heard about this bloke in Hull that will do it for £500. For £200 you can have her knee caps broken.

Q - "Have you seen that trick that David Blaine does were he puts a card through a window.

A - YES!
